How I became a writer - The story of a black cat

Hi guys!

So today it's all about how I became a writer, more specifically how I came to write my first book (the first of the ongoing trilogy), The black cub of Felis Mal'ak.

Once again, as many of you following my author's page on facebook already know, I became a writer upon the loss of a black cat I loved very much. Meet Felix (photo

By the time I bought my house, a six month's old white kitty girl also adopted it as her own. She wouldn't let anyone come close to her so we started feeding her but she kept on being a stray. A few months later, she ended up giving birth on our backyard, and guess what? Felix was born. I was thrilled because I was pretty sure a black male would be born from that litter, so he was already Felix even before he was born. Anyway, there he was.

We built the family a cozy home under our porch, so both mom and her 5 babies were safe and warm. As time went by, we managed to find families for most of the litter, but Felix and one of his sisters stayed with us. Our house was being rebuilt, so there were not doors to close yet. And a very strong bond was built between me and Felix, as expected. Long story short, we were really close. But by the time he was about nine months old, I had to spend a few days away, and Felix went missing. A few days later my world fell apart, as my father in law called me with the horrible news: Felix had been hit by a car, and as it was a hit and run, he didn't make it.

I ended up collapsing, and cried uninterruptedly for weeks. My baby boy was gone, and I hadn't been there to help him. But one day, I noticed everywhere I went there would be a black cat passing by, and that inspired me to start writing to deal with the loss. At first, it was all about grieving; but as time went by, I realized there was a story waiting to be told among those pages, an inspiring adventure. And Felix was here, playing and jumping everywhere among those written pages. The night I started taking seriously my writing task, a black cat went by under my window, and looked up. In that moment I decided my first book would be Felix's legacy to the world and every cat lover out there, and The black cub of Felis Mal'ak was born.

Meet the first volume from the legacy of a very special black cat to the world, meet The black cub of Felis Mal'ak.

Thanks for reading,

Vanessa
